Crafted from a single parcel of Durif at Block 2609 on Delves Farm, yields are low, the tiny berries are intense with flavour and wrapped in ripe juicy tannins. Grapes are de stemmed and inoculated, plunged thrice daily over a week of ferments, pressed and settled into seasoned French oak barrels for fifteen months maturation. A mouthfilling wine of black cherry and blood plum characters, dark chocolates and spice, full bodied and seductive, its structured Durif tannins in support of a mouth filling, savoury fruit driven palate, defined by its linearity, persistence and drive.

Deen De Bortoli created his Vat Series with the idea of fashioning a range of delicious, full flavoured wines that are immediately approachable upon release and accessible to all. Vat 6 is constructed to be an early drinking Verdelho with a bit of palate weight and fine complexity. De Bortoli are well positioned for this type of wine, full bodied and pleasingly dry, the Verdelho of choice to accompany luncheon seafood or a freshly grilled chicken breast tossed into spinach & basil caesar.

De Bortoli can proudly claim to have written the book on Australian dessert style Semillon. Each year, the award winning team singles out the most appropriate parcels of Semillon, where the best conditions exist to let grapes hang on the vine until they have been affected sufficiently by Botrytis cinerea. The desired levels of noble rot are achieved through a painstaking course of hand pickings over a period of several weeks, performed ceremoniously each vintage around the shortened daytimes of a winter solstice.

De Bortoli have the winning touch with the more obscure and esoteric varietal grapes, by virtue of an impeccable attention to detail and consuming passion to make good wine. Petit Verdot is a thick skinned, late ripening grape, which is often included in Bordeaux styled reds. The inspiration for Vat Series came from times when Deen De Bortoli would personally make up the blends, then chalk numbers on vats to identify them. Parcels of fruit grown to choice vineyards are earmarked for their bright varietal profile, harvested and assembled in the De Bortoli wineworks at Bilbul, to be crafted by the intrepid team into a fresh and crisp young wine, that's highly articulate of all things in fine Sauvignon Blanc.

Durif has been grown in the Riverina for many years, where it produces strong heady wines with good colour, excellent tannins and exciting varietal fruit characters. A native of the Valley Rhone with a susceptibility to rot under inhospitably cooler climes, De Bortoli's Durif is grown to sunny vineyards in the Riverina which favour the grape and stimulate the development of piquant flavours. A medium bodied yet intensely flavoured red wine with upfront Durif complexity, supported by firm tannins and supple oak.

De Bortoli retain an extensive collection of aged wines maturing in barrel, a rich endowment assembled over many years from estate vineyards, De Bortoli have also acquired precious heirloom stocks from grand estates further afield. Liqueur Muscat is a classic Australian style of rich, fortified wine. This trophy winning effort is bursting with concentrated flavours of raisins and figs, laden with luxurious aged rancio notes.
